“This has been like a game of Slides and Stairs—two steps forward, one back, three forward, two back. Every day brings a new challenge. Sometimes I spend hours on the phone trying to solve one task! But every day, I move closer to a dream that’s becoming more and more real.”

Languages in Action was founded in 2024 with a simple but powerful vision: to make language learning human again—joyful, immersive, and full of connection. Behind this growing center is Lia, a passionate educator and mother, whose story is woven into every class, conversation, and milestone.

How It All Started
The idea for Languages in Action was born at a kitchen table in Cape Coral—the kind of place where real dreams are made. In February 2024, Lia sat down with a cup of tea and an old vision she’d carried in her heart for years: a vibrant, welcoming space where language learning comes alive.
She imagined children walking into cozy classrooms, eager to explore the magic of new words. She pictured adults reconnecting with the thrill of learning, not through rote memorization, but through emotion, dialogue, and experience.
More than just a center, she envisioned a community—where learning a language isn't a chore, but a doorway to freedom, confidence, and opportunity.

The Vision
Lia believes that being multilingual isn’t just a useful skill—it’s a superpower. Learning multiple languages builds adaptability, independence, and cultural curiosity. Her ultimate goal? To help students of all ages become confident, independent learners of three or more foreign languages—and to give them the tools to keep learning for life.
Why Lia Built This
When her own children became curious about languages, Lia looked for local, in-person options—and found only online classes. While technology has its place, she knew what was missing: movement, energy, warmth, and real connection.
So she stepped back into education, not just as a profession—but as a calling.
With a rich background as a teacher, instructor, and faculty member, Lia began building Languages in Action as a bridge—connecting people through culture, confidence, and conversation.

 Building the Dream
With the support of her husband, guidance from local business mentors, and encouragement from the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce and SBDC, Lia launched her first 12 courses. She transformed a single office into a vibrant learning space—welcoming 72 students in her first round of classes.
Now, she partners with local businesses, empowers fellow Spanish speakers to teach, and continues to build a center where learners—young and grown—thrive through meaningful, immersive experiences.
